What is our purpose?
I wonder as the water hits my back from the shower.
Is it to work?
To do good?
That can't be.
The question crawls into my mind,
and warps around it.
Torturing the very essence of my mental peace.
Keeps me awake,
doesn't leave me alone.
What really makes us better than any other animal?
Intelligence?
Strength?
Religion?
Aren't we just another race of animals.
Aren't we as well bound to the same rules as the wild beasts in the forests?
We eat,
We sleep,
We die.
What makes us so much better?
I think,
nothing.
Being better is just an illusion.
Before long we all are bound to die,
are we not?
So what is our purpose here?
I think I found the answer.
Our purpose is what we choose it to be.
Only that unlike other animals,
Our purpose should follow rules.

ah, I may have to explain that...
Rules = laws and morals
Really nice poem.Though i found the last line a little odd, everything flows well togethor.Great job!
This is an interesting poem, it was different. I like the way you started it, with the water hitting your back. The way you sort of narrated your thought process was different too. The reason I really like this piece is that you got your feelings and thoughts out in a creative and interesting way. It starts to drag a little in a few places but otherwise, this was really good. The ending puzzled me a little, maybe I'm just being ignorant, but I didn't really understand it. Great job and keep writing!
